Performances

When I was about 11 years old my parents took my brother and I to see a production of the Hank Williams Story at the PCPA Theaterfest in Solvang. The music blew our minds and we started music lessons a week later, my brother on banjo and me on guitar.  From there we took piano lessons and eventually in 6th grade I became a drummer. Then, one fateful day MTV (Music Television) came into our home and there was no looking back, music became my religion and my life!

I attended SY High and all four years I was in the marching band, jazz band, jazz choir and regular choir...as a drummer.  By the end of my senior year I released my first record. Around the same time, after a concert, someone came up to me and asked how I did something on the drums and if I could help him with reading music. To my surprise, I just started talking and explaining and the TEACHER in me was born. I have played concerts all across America, written hundreds of songs, recorded endless hours of music and been in too many bands to count.  But none of it has ever compared to the feeling I get when I help someone understand music for the first time. My teaching motto is "Taking the mystery, not the magic, out of music!"

I became a Dragon in 2012 and it instantly became one of the greatest and most fulfilling career moves I have ever made. I also have a private teaching studio in Santa Barbara.  If you ever visit you will see my walls are filled with thank you notes and pictures of past students playing concerts, shooting music videos and exploring their individual musical paths. I've been doing it so long that I have even taught the kids of past students! Mind blowing, and yes I'm that old. Teaching and sharing the wonder of music is one of the greatest blessings in my life.
